I have over nine years’ in-house experience translating in a range of fields, although primarily scientific & technical. I graduated in chemistry and German (BSc. Joint Hons. I) from the University of Keele and spent 5 years in research, including periods working at BASF in Ludwigshafen/Rhein and the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart as well as in the UK. My bilingual upbringing from infancy, my joint honours degree in chemistry and German from Keele University as well as my time spent in research in England and Germany provided me with a wealth of linguistic and practical scientific & technical skills and knowledge needed to produce accurate and idiomatic technical translations, both from German into English as well as from English into German. My experience as a research scientist also taught me to work in an accurate and reliable way, working to deadlines and paying great attention to detail. After gaining valuable experience in the translation industry as an in-house translator, I now offer my services on a freelance basis. In addition to completing all projects assigned to me by the deadlines set, I manage clients and projects in a professional and friendly manner, actively maintaining long-term business relationships with clients as well as other translators based on mutual reliability and professional conduct. I have extensive experience with CAT tools, having used Trados for almost 10 years and memoQ for over 2 years. My language services also extend to proofreading, technical English training at a range of German companies and giving private English tuition to adults and schoolchildren.
